Programme Overview

Welcome to the Book Club for Kids! This programme is designed to help young readers develop a love of literature and improve their reading comprehension skills. Through guided discussions, interactive activities, and engaging projects, participants will explore a variety of genres and works of literature.

Programme Goals:

  • Develop a love for reading and an appreciation for literature.
  • Improve reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
  • Build vocabulary and improve writing skills through creative projects.
  • Encourage social interaction and communication skills through group discussions.

Programme Structure:

The Book Club for Kids will meet twice a week for a duration of four weeks. Each session will focus on a different book or story and will include the following components:

Introduction and Icebreaker:

Participants will get to know each other and discuss their thoughts and feelings about the book.

Reading and Reflection:

Participants will read a section of the book or story and engage in guided discussions to deepen their understanding and develop critical thinking skills.

Vocabulary and Writing:

Participants will explore new vocabulary words and engage in creative writing activities related to the book.

Group Discussion:

Participants will discuss the book as a group, sharing their thoughts, insights, and questions.

Public Speaking:

Participants will be provided with essential public speaking techniques, such as how to use their voice effectively, control their breathing, and use gestures and body language to enhance their presentation.

Conclusion and Reflection:

Participants will reflect on what they learned from the book and how it relates to their lives.

Programme Materials:

Participants will need access to the books being read and discussed in class. These books will be chosen in advance and will be appropriate for the age and reading level of the participants.

Assessment

Participants will be assessed on their participation in group discussions, completion of creative writing assignments, and engagement in the programme material.

Dhivehi Club (Dhivehi Language)

Programme Overview

Welcome to the Dhivehi Language Club for Kids! This programme is designed to help young learners develop their proficiency in the Dhivehi language through fun and interactive activities. Participants will learn the basics of Dhivehi grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation through a variety of engaging projects and games.

Programme Goals:

  • Develop proficiency in the Dhivehi language, including grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
  • Build confidence in speaking, reading, and writing Dhivehi.
  • Develop an understanding and appreciation of Maldivian culture through the language.

Programme Structure:

The Dhivehi Language Club for Kids will meet twice a week for a duration of four weeks. Each session will focus on a different aspect of the language using a theme and will include the following components:

Introduction and Icebreaker:

Participants will get to know each other and discuss their goals for learning Dhivehi.

Vocabulary and Pronunciation:

Participants will learn new Dhivehi words and practice their pronunciation through fun and interactive activities.

Grammar and Sentence Structure:

Participants will learn the basics of Dhivehi grammar and sentence structure through guided exercises and games.

Reading and Writing:

Participants will practice reading and writing Dhivehi through creative writing activities and projects.

Public Speaking:

Culture and History:

Literacy Adventures for Children (Ages 5-7)

Programme Overview

This programme is designed to provide children with fun and engaging activities to enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. The programme includes vocabulary games, writing tasks, story creation lessons, reading books, and interactive lessons to help children develop their literacy skills in a well-rounded manner. The activities are age-appropriate and tailored to each child’s skill level to promote confidence and motivation.

Programme Objectives:

  • By the end of this programme, children will:
  • Increase their vocabulary and spelling skills through vocabulary games.
  • Enhance their writing skills through writing prompts that encourage grammar practice and sentence construction.
  • Improve their creativity and imagination by creating their own stories from a given starting point.
  • Develop their reading skills by reading books appropriate for their age and skill level.
  • Enhance their speaking and listening skills through interactive lessons such as role-playing, group discussions, and storytelling exercises.
